Every decision made starts with an affirmative picture in the mind. You have pictured it, and you believe if you do it the way you see it in your mind, it will be good. That is why, before striking the physical, correct the metal!
Am sure you are like...'What's up with the psychology 101 for fashion?'. Well, believe it or not, before you dress, there are certain mentalities you have nurtured in your mind that makes you dress the way you dress. And it is either you wipe such mindset or you correct them.
I have investigated, searched and questioned fashionistas and the reply is the same... 'The fault isn't from the critics, instead, it's from you'. Let me help you get it right,..
1.NOT ALL CLOTHES ARE MADE FOR YOU
I get! I get it! you've heard this before! but little did you know that even though you thought you're not a victim, you are!... Am lying right? Now answer these questions yourself.
1.NOT ALL CLOTHES ARE MADE FOR YOU
I get! I get it! you've heard this before! but little did you know that even though you thought you're not a victim, you are!... Am lying right? Now answer these questions yourself.
- Have you ever rushed out to get an outfit because its the one in vogue?
- Have you ever worn an unfitting bigger or smaller cloth because that's what match?
- Have you ever ordered online and even though you found out that it didn't fit, you still wore it?
- You still believe in your cloth sizes, even though the dress is bigger or tighter?
- Have you ever exposed your stretch marks, arms or shoulders that on a good day you wouldn't expose, just because you wanna wear whats in vogue?
Well, if these questions still fall on a 'yes', then, no one would appreciate your dressing style because you've not been 'you' in those unfitting clothes. If you have this thought of 'my body fits all kinds of clothes'...Honey, you're so wrong!
2. YOU'VE BEEN WEARING IT THE SAME WAY
There's this mentality of "oh! since this my denim shirt matches my brown pants, am gonna keep wearing it this same way". You need to CREATE STYLE OUT OF FASHION. No one would appreciate a usual person.
You don't need to keep wearing it the same way the designer thought it would best fit on you. You could roll up your sleeves, raise your collar, button up, button only the middle. you could tie the tips of the shirts and so on.
I know your constant combination is great, but don't be stuck in it. Try it this way and that way, with that shoe and this jewelry. Spice yourself!
3. FASHION HAS GROWN, LET GO!
This mindset is common! 'I'll leave this shirt till fashion comes back to it', Well, sorry to burst your bubble love, but fashion may never come back to it. yeah! yeah! fashion has a way of going and coming back like karma but you may not be lucky this time.
Even if fashion would come back to your old dress, it would come back bigger, better and with newer designs, and the old prints on your old clothes will stand you out as 'old fashioned'...damn! i hate that title! No one would appreciate an old fashioned because they're busy appreciating those that are trendy
Just as you grow, fashion grows. Its not more that two years old baby and even fashion itself doesn't pray to go back. So, close your eyes and say 'ciao' to those old clothes in your wardrobe.
4.'TRYING' WOULD NOT KILL YOU!
I understand that fear, I've been there too, but darling, in the fashion world, there MUST be critics! you need to learn to look beyond what people would say and enjoy yourself.
Move out of that "how will they look at me?" mentality. Know that, people could get irritated and disgusted at how you look, while others would love, praise and imitate how you look. People love and appreciate confident people.
So, try a new color, a new designer, new hairstyle and step out. As far as you love yourself and you're comfortable, move with grace and diss the haters....dhorrrrrr!!!
5. TOO MUCH OF 'IT'
You keep missing this point! fashion doesn't mean rose red top and a cherry red trouser, combined with a ruby red shoe and pepper red accessories...Haba! watappin?Though, fashion encourages you to enjoy your colors but not to abuse it, looking like a color ranger!
Don't expose too much skin, you're not on the beach!. Just focus and highlight on your body's nice assets. Do not wear TOO much jewelries. Don't fix nails that are TOO long.
No one would appreciate a person that 'over flaunts'. Moderacy is key!
I hope you've learnt something. Do these, and you'd be a fashion legend. Join me in making the world FASHION CONDUCIVE. Am pearl, and pearl loves you!
